Breen-76, Crosby 27, this denomination is a solid Rarity-7, with most of the survivors excavated after nearly three centuries in the ground by metal detectorists in Maryland.
That leaves two ‘nice’ pieces; the AU Ford specimen now locked up in a long term collection, and this piece, the 2nd finest known and the only intact example available to collectors.
With pleasing chocolate brown color, nice surfaces and the requisite crust in the devices one would expect to find on a 350 year-old copper coin.
Which all combine to make this one of the very best coins that CRO (or anyone else, for that matter) has ever offered.
This coin is from the CRO archives and is not currently available for sale.
