One of just 963(!) pieces minted a couple of centuries ago, and always one of the most sought after type coins in the entire American series.
And this is a lovely AU example with especially pleasing rich golden color. Well struck for the issue, this piece exhibits sharper hair detail than on a few of the examples we’ve seen in uncirculated holders.
There are a few light scattered lines on the obverse (as is typically the case on this design in which there are no stars to protect the open fields), but none are too distracting or noticeable and the overall look is choice for the grade.
Very rare, beautiful and always in demand – and that’s a good combination of attributes.
