We’ve been at this for a pretty long time, but we cannot recall seeing another coin in a PCGS 61 holder – of any series, type, date, mint or variety – with the eye-appeal of this piece.
Technically this coin really is a 61 (or possibly a 62 on a good day), with some scattered lines in the fields on the obverse and reverse, but it is very fresh and has the look of a coin several grades higher.
It also happens to be a popular Civil War date with an original proof mintage of just 1,000.
A neat piece!
