A lovely piece bearing perhaps the most famous and desirable provenance in all of numismatics, in whose 1997 catalog it was described as follows:
"MS-63. Silver gray surfaces with some splashes of gunmetal blue. Very well struck. A nice example of an issue which is not normally seen in significantly better condition, although a glance at recent population reports from NGC and PCGS shows that each of these fine services has recorded an MS-64 example as the highest certified. The present coin, in keeping with its illustrious Eliasberg Collection company, has a high aesthetic appeal."
Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
Ex Bowers’ April 1997 sale of the Louis E. Eliasberg Collection, lot #1927 where it realized $1,210; earlier John H. Clapp.
